Classic Horror Game Fatal Frame Gets Live-Action Movie Adaptation!

One of the best horror-themed video games (in my opinion), Fatal Frame will soon get a live-action movie adaptation. This movie adaptation of the game that is also known as Project Zero in Europe or just Zero in Japan is expected to be released in Fall 2014 throughout Japan.

Fatal Frame II Cover for PlayStation2 and Xbox, considered the best of the series

Fatal Frame (or Zero/Project Zero) was a very popular horror-themed game franchise back in PlayStation 2's and Xbox's glory days. Published by Tecmo (now Tecmo Koei), the franchise had four major title games (Fatal Frame, Fatal Frame II, Fatal Frame III, Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen which was only released in Japan), two hand-held spin-offs (Real: Another Edition for cellphones, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir for 3DS) and a remake (Zero: Shinku no Chou in Japan, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition in Europe for Wii).

The movie adaptation will not be adapting any settings from the game series, instead will use the story of a novelization of the franchise created by famous writer/mangaka Eiji Ohtsuka (MPD-Psycho). It will star two currently rising Japanese models,  Ayami Nakajo, who made her acting debut in the 2012 television series Kuro no Onna Kyoushi and Aoi Morikawa, who will make her acting debut in this movie. The movie will be directed by Mari Asato (Bilocation).

Ayami Nakajo and Aoi Morikawa who will portray Aya Tsukimori and Michi Kazato respectfully

In the movie, Aya Tsukimori (Nakajo) becomes part of an ancient "cursed incantation" at a girls' high school dormitory. Michi Kazato (Morikawa) is a classmate who is pursuing the mysterious disappearances at the dormitory.

Hopefully this adaptation will not be a disappointment. Until this day, I haven't seen any movie adaptation from a video game that is satisfying.
